# CONFIG_SYNTAX_ERROR

The configuration file is not valid TypeScript, so it could not be compiled.

## Cause

The configuration file is not valid TypeScript, so it could not be compiled.

The CLI compiles `nextly.config.ts`, and every file it imports, before it reads anything from it. A syntax error anywhere in them stops the command before it does any work. The Why line gives the file, line and column of each error.

## Fix

Open the file at the line and column the error names, correct the code there, and run the command again. Your editor or `tsc --noEmit` reports the same error.

## Example

```text
✗ `nextly.config.ts` has a syntax error, so it could not be read.
  Why:  nextly.config.ts:3:20: Expected "}" but found "fields"
  Next: Fix line 3 of `nextly.config.ts`, then run the command again.
