# MIGRATION_SQL_UNCHECKABLE

A migration's SQL is in a form the schema guard cannot read, so it cannot check the migration leaves other owners' tables alone.

## Cause

A migration's SQL is in a form the schema guard cannot read, so it cannot check the migration leaves other owners' tables alone.

Before a migration runs, its statements are read to find every table, column and index they drop or change. A statement could not be read that far, so whether it takes something another owner holds is unknown, and the migration is refused. Nothing was applied.

## Fix

* Rewrite the statement as the Next line says, as plain SQL on the table it names.
* Run it with `--verbose` to see the statement the guard could not read.

## Example

```text
✗ A migration contains SQL whose drops cannot be read, so which owner's tables it drops cannot be checked.
  Why:  A statement in `@acme/seo/20261020_120000_add_redirects` could not be read: unterminated block comment. It has been refused.
  Next: Rewrite that statement as plain SQL the guard can read; `--verbose` shows the statement.
