# NEXTLY_SCHEMA_EXTEND_FIELD_DUPLICATE

A plugin extends an entity with a field whose name the entity already has.

## Cause

A plugin extends an entity with a field whose name the entity already has.

Field names on an entity are compared without regard to case. The field a plugin's `contributes.extend` adds is already on the target, as one of its own fields or one another plugin added.

## Fix

* Rename the field in the plugin's `contributes.extend`.
* Or rename the target's own field, if it is yours.

## Example

```text
✗ Plugin "reviews" extends "products" with a duplicate field "rating".
  Why:  "products" already has a field named "rating", of its own or added by another plugin; names are compared without regard to case.
  Next: Rename the field "rating" in the plugin's `contributes.extend`, or rename the target's own field.
