# PLUGIN_RESOLUTION_ERROR

A plugin's declaration could not be resolved: a dependency, a version range, a capability, a name or a setting it declares is missing, in conflict or not valid.

## Cause

A plugin's declaration could not be resolved: a dependency, a version range, a capability, a name or a setting it declares is missing, in conflict or not valid.

Before anything runs, the configuration's plugins are resolved: their dependencies and the order to set them up in, the Nextly versions they support, the capabilities they declare and provide, and the names, settings and secrets they declare. A failure in any of these stops every command that loads the configuration, and the boot. The What and Why lines name the plugin and what failed, and `--verbose` shows `logContext.reason`.

## Fix

Fix what the Why line names: add or update the plugin a `dependsOn` names, install a release whose `nextly` range includes the installed Nextly, list a capability the plugin declares (such as `db.rawSqlPlugins`), or correct the declaration. See [Plugin error reference](https://nextlyhq.com/docs/plugins/error-reference.md).

## Example

```text
✗ Plugin "reviews" route GET /summary declares an option that cannot apply.
  Why:  rawBody is only meaningful on a method with a body, not GET.
  Next: Correct the option named in the route's declaration in the plugin.
