# SCHEMA_SYNC_IN_PRODUCTION

`NODE_ENV` is `production`, where schema changes are applied by migrations and never synced automatically.

## Cause

`NODE_ENV` is `production`, where schema changes are applied by migrations and never synced automatically.

In production the schema changes only through migrations, which are reviewed and recorded. With `NODE_ENV=production` the sync refuses to apply the changes it found, and names the collections they are in.

## Fix

* Create a migration for the changes: `nextly migrate:create --name="add-posts"`.
* Apply it with `nextly migrate`.
* If this is not production, unset `NODE_ENV` or set it to `development`, then run the command again.

## Example

```text
✗ Cannot auto-sync schema in production mode.
  Why:  `NODE_ENV` is `production`, and 2 collections would change: posts, pages.
  Next: Run `nextly migrate:create --name="<migration-name>"` to create migrations, then `nextly migrate` to apply.
