# TRANSLATIONS_UNRECORDED

`nextly migrate:create` was run in a project with translations whose latest snapshot predates the record of translated fields.

## Cause

`nextly migrate:create` was run in a project with translations whose latest snapshot predates the record of translated fields.

Snapshots written by early versions of Nextly don't record which fields are translated. In a project that has translations (a localization migration file, or an entity the latest snapshot's settings say was translated), `migrate:create` can't plan a change without that record: a field moving between translated and shared could lose its values. So it refuses every change, and writes nothing, until the record is made once.

## Fix

Put your config back as it was at the last migration, and record the translated fields against a database that has applied every migration:

```bash
nextly migrate
npx nextly migrate:create --record-snapshot
```

Commit what it writes. Then make your change again and run `npx nextly migrate:create --name <name>`. See [When your migrations predate the record of translated fields](https://nextlyhq.com/docs/localization.md#when-your-migrations-predate-the-record-of-translated-fields).

## Example

```text
✗ `nextly migrate:create` can't tell which fields are translated, so it wrote nothing.
  Why:  The latest snapshot was written before snapshots recorded which fields are translated, and the project has translations: planning a change on a guess could lose their values.
  Next: To record them, put the config back as it was at the last migration and run `nextly migrate:create --record-snapshot` against a database that has applied every migration, then make your changes again and run `nextly migrate:create --name add_excerpt`.
